A large rim sherd from a Bronze Age collared urn, excavated in 1964 during Paul Ashbee's investigations of Beckhampton Road Long barrow. The sherd has a reduced, black, core with slightly oxidised muddy-brown surfaces, and a coarse temper. The sherd has a thick, moulded collar at what would have been the mouth of the vessel, which was shaped like an urn or large jar. No record of the context has survived, but the sherd is illustrated by Ashbee in his 1979 publication, where it is described as being found in the fill of the ditch of, and presumably eroded out from, the round barrow which had been constructed at one end of the long barrow.
