bell
Description
Notes: date problematic as The Whitechapel Church Bell Foundry took over Wells of Aldbourne in 1826 and still continued to use the same casts for the bells (with the initials of Robert Wells)
Notes: these are interesting as box bells usually contained bells of a 'normal' shape although some like these were made using 'Rumblers', sets of box bells (4 boxes) were used by waggon teams for gala days or journeys into the market town to give warning of approach the bells were too heavy for everyday use
Summary: 2 pairs of 'Box bells' in their original leather casings, 2 sets of rumbler bells per box, the bells cast with the initials R.W. on them - Robert Wells of Aldbourne
