Description

Summary: The ceramic vessel assemblage found during excavation of the Late Bronze Age to Middle Iron Age and Romano-British Settlement at 'Black Furlong', Blacklands, Calne Without, ahead of the excavation of a slurry pit in 2005. Sherds from context G8, material from from the deliberate infilling of a disused oven. This context contained only a single early iron age sherd.

Research results

The ceramic vessel assemblage from context G8, found during excavation of the Late Bronze Age to Middle Iron Age and Romano-British Settlement at 'Black Furlong', Blacklands, Calne Without, ahead of the excavation of a slurry pit in 2005. The material comes from a deposit of sandstone and chalk which had been used to deliberately fill the firing chamber of a disused oven, and contained only a single early Iron Age sherd.
