Research results

A Bronze Age antler handle found with a primary deposit in bowl barrow Collingbourne Kingston G4 when it was excavated by William Cunnington in the early 19th century. The handle was found with the copper alloy chisel to which it belonged and other grave goods, including a bone plate, but the deposit did not accompany a body or cremation. The handle appears to have been extensively used prior to burial, and after the perforation at one end became broken, a second was attempted on the opposite end.
