Description

Summary: 4 barrel-shaped beads of spirally twisted gold wire, found beneath barrow on King's Play Down, near Devizes.

Research results

In 2000, Durham University, Sarah Semple and Howard Williams, undertook an excavation on the early medieval burial on Roundway Down (WAHNM 2001 - preliminary note). The finds archive, including human remains, are still at the university, awaiting further analysis and publication. Sarah Semple sent this update on 5th June 2023 - the project is now moving towards completion.
