Description

Summary: collection of objects from the Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Europe Ltd, Melksham (previously known as Avon Tyres / Avon Rubber Company). The factory closed to production in December 2023, and these items were gifted to the Museum in January 2024. They include examples of the types of tyres made at the factory, both historic and modern; clocking in/out machine; various hand tools for tyre making; coat of arms; other items made by the factory, including a gas mask and dog toys; various trophies and cups for motoring events.

Identification note: A commemorative booklet was produced in 2023, documenting the history of the company. In December 2023, at a farewell event for the employees, a copy was given out to everyone as a keepsake. A copy is now in the archive and library.
