Content summary: 6 December 1800: John Britton to William Cunnington- he has returned to the foggy metropolis and has made 4 correct sketches of Stonehenge and will send him a specimen. He has been in touch with Mr Leman of Bath who promised a paper on the Roman Roads in Wilts. Lord Radnor seems pleased with the dedication and description. At \oxfordf he had found a very large map of Wilts. By Bishop Tanner. Rawlinson and Aubrey- 'the latter has collected 2 vols. folio of sketches &C.' Sir Beckford has his description of Fonthill 'the best desciption of a house ever printed. material that he is thinking of writing a second volume. He stayed 2 days with Mr Methuen (Corsham Court) and found MS of a visitation of Wilts. 1565 in his library. He spent a day at Burford 'hunting after stones.' I counted 80 Barrows from our spot near Bulford- a very magnificent scene from the hill between Stonehenge and Bulford.
