Content summary: 27 August 1804 : Abraham Crocker to William - is sending two petrified sharks teeth from a jaw in his possession for comparison with the real teeth of a shark. 'I sometime since refer to your notice a fragment of (what appeared to be) the cover of a Roman patera found near Beer regis in Dorsetshire. Before I sent it to you I had it weighed in air and in water; in order to find its specific gravity, and since which, I have amused myself with making the necessary calculation. It's weight in air. 13oz. 6drDitto in water 11oz. 2dr.From whence by mathematical procedures, and under the supposition that the composition was copper and tin I have found that it contains 118. 1/2 drachms of copper and 95 1/2 drms of tin.
