Description

Summary: A hoard of two early medieval silver sceattas. (1) Obverse: Diademed head right, beaded serpent circle at 6 o'clock, blundered legend in margin. Reverse: Bird to right on cross pattée, annulets each side, beaded serpent circle at 6 o'clock, blundered legend in margin, c.680-710 (2) Obverse: Diademed draped bust right, cross in front of face, beaded border. Reverse: Beaded standard enclosing saltires pommées in the angles, around central pellet in annulet, pellets in the field and outside standard, c.710-720. Found with the use of a metal detector in August 2012, in Urchfont, Wiltshire.\n\n
