Summary: A sepia postcard of the Remains of Druid Stone Avenue (South) Avebury (4). there is a caption which suggests the northern circle was for sacrifice, the southern for assemblies, and the outer stone ditch and earthworks were for a boundary.Its real date and purpose remain a mystery. Lord Avebury says it was prbably the great meeting place of the earliest inhabitants of these islands.
