slag

Description

Summary: 1 piece of scoria, could be the product of metal works and therefore 'slag', but looks more like scoria which is a form of lava with a different chemical makeup to pumice and heavier therefore sinks, it could have come from a volcanic area such as Strombolli. Part of the Owen Meyrick Collection of prehistoric material, presented to the Wiltshire Archaeological and Natural History Society in 1983.
