Description

Summary: Incomplete late medieval / early post medieval cast copper alloy figurine, from the side arm of a processional cross, dating to 1400 - 1530 AD. A standing figure, possibly female, hooded and wearing a long robe, possibly holding a staff. There are traces of gilding, but corrosion products adhere to the object - particularly the figurine, making accurate identification difficult, but it is likely to be the Virgin Mary. Found in Urchfont, 2023.
