Description

Summary: Pen and ink drawing of St. Anne's Gate, Salisbury, reproduced for the "Old Salisbury Georgian Period, Salisbury" series. An oblique view of St. Anne's gate and it's attached buildings. A post and single rail fence line runs the length of the wall to both sides of the gate acting a a barrier against people falling into the gap between it and the Close wall. Is there a stream/waterway running between the wall and the road? In the foreground is a man pushing a laden wheelbarrow, in the midground a well-dressed family are walking through the gate, a man is leaning against the fence rail and a woman is carrying baskets. In the background two people are in conversation.
