bone toggle

Description

Identification note: Classified as Type 5.2 (toggle) in Smith

Summary: 1 piece of tubular bone with a round hole through both sides of the bone and a polished surface, probably used as a toggle or runner in connection with cords or as a dress fastener, from the Iron Age period, from All Cannings Cross Farm, All Cannings, Wiltshire. Excavated by Mr B H Cunnington and Mrs M E Cunnington, 1911-22.
