Description

Summary: 1 mid to late 19th century brass card counter in the form of a 'spade guinea' of Geoge III. Stamped into the obverse is a profile bust looking right wiht the words 'GEORGIVS III DEI GRATIA'. On the reverse is a 'spade' shaped shield with the arms of England and the words 'IN MEMORY OF THE GOOD OLD DAYS 1788'. The date refers to the centenary of the 'Glorious Revolution' of 1688. Found at Shrewton, Wiltshire in 2000.
