collared urn

Description

Identification note: All 3 barrows previously excavated by J Thurnam in 1860, see WAM VI, p.323.

Summary: 38 sherds, 2 of which are decorated with impresses cord, Vessel X in the report, states it is a collared urn, the fabric is hard, with grog and chalk inclusions, brown / buff in colour with a dark core in some sherds, from the mound, ditch and central grave, from round barrow G61, Roughridge Hill, Bishops Cannings, Wiltshire, excavated by Mrs E Proudfoot, 1964.
