Summary: Series of documents relating to a visit to the U.S.A. and Canada by Dr. Edwin Shearing, travelling on the Cunard White Star Line R.M.S. Mauretania, in 1948 when he worked for I.C.I., including: four programme of events leaflets; one leaflet advertising Marconi Radio Services rates; two entertainments documents, a race card and a passenger list competition sheet; and four "Ocean Times" news sheets, headlining 'Arabs Repulsing Jewish Attack', 'Single German Government for Western Zones', 'Cease-fire Proposed in Holy Land' and 'Next Move to Discuss Berlin Deadlock'.
