Research results

One of of ten Bronze Age axeheads found as part of a hoard, the second known from the area, in 1999. The palstave is of a late Bronze Age form, probably part of the Wilburton Metalworking phase, dating to around the 11th century BC.

This axehead and the circumstances of its discovery are described by Lawson et al. (2011), who also set out the arguements both for and against classing both Manton axehead hoards as a single dispersed group.
