Description

Identification note: catalogue card has "Full title - Stonehenge, Wilts, Plate I. This extraordinary monument of antiquity is situated on Salisbury Plain about two miles from the town of Amesbury and seven from Salisbury. This view represents it as it now remains and was taken from the western side in 1807" on the back. Inspection reveals that the date in the above note should be 1802. The caption also includes the words "See Beauties of Wiltshire Vol II" VN

Identification note: on the catalogue card the '8' has been crossed through and '3', correctly, substituted. The publication date is February 1803 VN
