hoard

Description

Summary: Roman copper-alloy coin hoard comprising 465 coins, with 16 additional stray coins. Found in the Marlborough area with the use of a metal detector, some of the coins were scattered over quite a large area. The coins from Valerian (AD 253-60) to the Tetric (AD 293-310) seem to form a discrete group, with the coins of Carausius (AD 286-93) regarded as part of the same hoard.
