collared urn

Description

Identification note: All 3 barrows previously excavated by J Thurnam in 1860, see WAM VI, p.323.

Summary: 40+ sherds and fragments, from Thurnam's pits 1 and 2 and edge of grave, fragments are light grey and appear burnt, report states collared urn with stabbed chevron pattern on collar, also fabric grog, chalk and shell in hard fabric, from Vessel IX, from round barrow G61, Roughridge Hill, Bishops Cannings, Wiltshire, excavated by Mrs E Proudfoot, 1964.
