Research results

A small collection of flint, comprising of four flakes, excavated by Paul Ashbee from Beckhampton Road Long Barrow in 1964. Unfortunately, there is no record of the original context of these flints, however the original publication of the excavations in 1979 describes four flakes being found in situ within the mound material of the Bronze Age round barrow, which had been constructed at one end of the Neolithic Long barrow. It is likely that these are the flints refered to. The flakes are relatively irregular, although one appears to be a truncated blade.
