Description

Summary: Barrel organ from All Saint's Church, Norton, Wiltshire. Made by Theodore Charles Bates of London, c.1850. Canon John Edward Jackson, one of the founding fathers of WANHS and resident of Norton, purchased the organ second-hand from John Hanks, the organist at Malmesbury Abbey, in 1863. It remained in use until 1910, when it was fixed to the south wall of the church as an exhibit.
