Content summary: 3 May 1801 : copy of a letter from William Cunnington to Rev. Mr Leman – asking for advice on excavation at Casterley Banks. He has been tracing the Roman road from Old Sarum to Winchester. He has found several small camps 'on the downs near Longbridge Deverell'. His brother has told him of a 'small camp near Stonehenge, between the circle and a small public house known as 'The Druid's Head'. He has recently opened a large barrow bear Knook Castle and found human skeletons and considers that further investigation will take 4 or 5 days. Bones have been replaced and the barrow closed. He has opened more barrows in the last year not found the contents of two alike'.
