Summary: 1 grooved whetstone or shaft smoother of forest marble (the underside rounded), found with a primary inhumation in Bell Barrow Wilsford G58, excavated by William Cunnington.

Research results

A Bronze Age grooved stone found with the primary inhumation of bell barrow Wilsford G58, excavated by William Cunnington. One of a number of grave goods, the stone is too hard to be used as whetstones, these grooved stones are thought to have been used to shape bone and wooden items. The stone is of a local sarsen stone.
