Research results

A small collection of flint, comprising of four retouched flakes, three core fragments and 109 flakes, excavated by Paul Ashbee from Beckhampton Road Long Barrow in 1964. Unfortunately, there is no record of the original context of these flints, however the original publication of the excavations in 1979 describes two retouched flakes, 111 flakes and three cores being found in material eroded from the long barrow mound at its proximal end, and these are likely the same flints. As they would have originated within the mound marerial, an Early Neolithic date is likely.
