Research results

A Bronze age oblong gold covered bone pendant, found with a primary cremation in Bell Barrow Wilsford G8, excavated by William Cunnignton. The pendant is one of many in this richly furnished grave, and was strung by perforations through the indentation at its apex. From sutures visible in the bone it can be identified as being from a mammalian skull, probably a sheep or goat, but a human identification cannot be ruled out.
