Description

Summary: The ceramic vessel assemblage found during excavation of the Late Bronze Age to Middle Iron Age and Romano-British Settlement at 'Black Furlong', Blacklands, Calne Without, ahead of the excavation of a slurry pit in 2005. Sherds from context A9, the fill of a shallow linear ditch. The assemblage contains 3 middle iron age sherds. This includes a large rim sherd from an open mouthed jar made of a sandy fabric.

Research results

The ceramic vessel assemblage from context A9, found during excavation of the Late Bronze Age to Middle Iron Age and Romano-British Settlement at 'Black Furlong', Blacklands, Calne Without, ahead of the excavation of a slurry pit in 2005. The context is the fill of a shallow ditch, and the three sherds are of middle Iron Age date. This includes a large rim sherd from an open mouthed jar made of a sandy fabric.
