Description

Summary: 1 Iron Age bronze hook and plate. Plate square with rounded corners. Incised line around the edge. 2 round headed rivets are visible, which are fastened with washers on the underside. Hook flat on the underside, incised on sides, and rounded at the front, widens as it joins the plate. Probably part of a belt fitting. From Pit 1 at the early Iron Age settlement (early La Tene period) at Swallowcliffe Down, Swallowcliffe, Wiltshire. Excavated by Dr R C C Clay, 1925.
