Description

Summary: 1 pair of cast saucer brooches, leaded bronze, face mercury gilded, from Grave 50. One brooch front uneven with rim, gilded except on riased edges, central boss and ring surrounded by 6 running spirals, back is flat with remnent of iron pin, spring on pin holder. Other brooch front condition and design closely matches. From the pagan Saxon cemetery called 'Black Patch' at Blacknall Field, Pewsey, Wiltshire, excavated by Ken Annable and the Wiltshire Archaeological and Natural History Society, 1969-1976.
