Description

Summary: Roman gold ring of Henig Type VIII with a red oval garnet setting. The bezel is decorated with crescent shaped markings down the sides. The hoop is bent. The garnet is decorated with a thyrsus (staff of giant fennel) and ribbons behind a centrally positioned male head, facing left. Late 3rd century AD in date. Found in the parish of Fyfield in Wiltshire.
