Description

Summary: A complete silver-gilt Medieval openwork annular brooch formed of two circular bands decorated with transverse nicks to form a pellet border. Within the bands is an openwork section formed of a zig-zag band. The band is decorated with a central incision along its whole length. The pin survives and is located within a D shaped perforation and there is no recess to act as a pin rest. The pin has a small projecting collar and tapers to the tip. It is decorated with two sets of parallel zig zag incisions. To the reverse the circular bands are undecorated, the zig zag band is decorated with a similar central groove along its entire length. Found in Latton in 2015.
