Trustee Opportunity

Would you be interested in bringing your own perspectives and life experiences to help us progress our plans for the Devizes Assize Court as a community hub and new museum?

As an independent charity, important decisions are made by our trustees, working together to identify and progress priorities.  As a trustee you will also help guide the strategic future of the charity, and help us develop our ideas and plans.

Development funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund has been secured to support the preliminary stage of the Assizes for Devizes project and we are working with the Devizes Assize Court Trust (who own the Assize Court) to give the iconic Assize Court buildings, located alongside the Kennet and Avon Canal in Northgate Street, Devizes, a bright future at the heart of the local community. Our project also aims to regenerate a historic apart of Devizes by providing a new home for Wiltshire Museum. This will enable us to share our collections with as many people as possible, host more cultural and community events and engage more widely with local communities, all of which we are unable to expand within the constraints of our current buildings in Long Street, Devizes.

The project will take some six to seven years to complete and in the meantime we continue to run the current Museum, whilst developing our exhibition and community engagement programmes.
