An evening walk led by Isobel Geddes.
A short evening walk investigating Seend’s iron industry (1860 – 1939). This circular walk is just 2.5 miles but will look at what evidence remains: a tramway from the main ironstone quarry to the blast-furnace complex to examining local building stones in and around Seend church.

Date: Thursday 11 August
Start Time: 6.30 pm. Walk is expected to last a couple of hours.
Park and meet: in the small parking area by the canal bridge, opposite the Barge Inn, Seend (SN12 6QB). Grid ref. ST 932 614.

Terms and Conditions
Stout footwear, protective clothing to suit the prevailing weather conditions and reasonable mobility will be required. Please ensure that you bring water and snacks; this is particularly important in hot weather.
The event may be postponed if adverse weather is forecast.
